Each year, Earth Team’s Sustainable Youth internship program recruits 150 interns from a dozen local public high schools in the East Bay to engage in multiple afterschool project-based learning opportunities. Participating youth receive a stipend for their work to learn about the environmental and sustainability issues facing our cities and develop service learning projects. These projects focus on clean air and clean water: exploring and restoring local watersheds, launching recycling initiatives on and off campus, inventorying and mapping trees, seeking ways to document and reduce air pollution and engaging the community in anti-litter campaigns. Each team has a blog like this, serving as a communications platform for our hard working interns to share their work with their peers and the community, promoting environmental stewardship and urban sustainability. Thank you for visiting!
